The Jim Cushman Studio is privately owned and operated by “Cush” himself. Jim has spent many years in the production field. To give a brief history of his career, Cush join the Navy in 1967 for 4 years at which time he completed radar electronic school and completed his First Class FCC License course at the Cleveland Institute of Electronics. Cush then Graduated in 1975 from The Ohio State University getting his Bachelor degree in Music with an emphasis on Theory and Composition. He then worked full time at Musicol Recording Studios in Columbus Ohio while also playing full time with a pop band called Crosswinds. Cush then moved to New England with his wife Sharon. Jim was a live audio engineer at WPRI-TV 12 in East Providence, Rhode Island for almost 15 years. He also during that time owned a recording studio in Seekonk, Massachusetts know as Cushman Sound Services.
He changed the name of his business when he relocated in Lake Placid, New York in 1994. While living here in the Adirondack Park, Cush has recorded numerous bands and classical groups, which include Loon Lake Live and the Lake Placid Sinfonietta. Cush also masters CD’s and now puts most of his energy into editing music programs for amateur and professional ice skaters. He has worked with Alexander Zhulin & Maya Usova (Russian), Alexei Yagudin (Russian), Christopher Dean working with Shea-Lynn Borne & Victor Kraatz (Canadian), Natalie Buck & Trent Nelson-Bond (Australian) and even did some dubbing work with Scott Hamilton. These are some of the benefits of living in Lake Placid, the Olympic Region. Cush is also very excited to have the chance to be working with some of the up-coming skaters that train in Lake Placid and Saranac Lake. They are all very talented and who knows who will be the next Scott Hamilton or Dorthy Hamil. Jim also runs a music Jam Session at the local Shipman youth center where kids and young adults can come and have the opportunity to jam with other musicians giving each of them the opportunity to expand their horizons in the music field. Also, last but not the least, Cush still gigs with bands in the Lake Placid area. He fills in with several bands playing bass, guitar or keyboards whenever he can.
